Here we are again...

No one said it was easy to keep a blog. More precisely, it is impossible for me te write on it with any regularity. Google seems to take care of the blog itself. Isn't that nice of them.

Once upon a time I had decided to keep a record of my watched shows and films. While it is impossible for me to name all of them since my last update here's what comes to mind right now:

- Midsomer Murders: Here's some evening-filling entertainment for you. As of the current season, all the old cast have been replaced by newbies. Besides Kate and John, there's a new DS on the block. Ben has finally left the series, but been replaced by the slightly nervous and ambitious DS Nelson. John and Sarah are pregnant. Sykes still survives. Not much has changed besides the actors. Just maybe the fact that they are all better looking.

- Sherlock: Still bloody awesome. Series 3 ended yesterday in a grand finale with the return of Jim Moriarty. As of today, all Sherlock fans seem to be in mourning for the seasonal ending and will remain greaving until the return (next year?). On a positive note: René proclaimed the promise of both a fourth ánd a fifth series!

- New Girl: My girly indulgence of the moment. It's a bit funky, but I like Zooey Deschanel, there's a convincing argument for watching this. It's a slice of life series with a side order of surrealism. Enjoyment all around.

- The Big Bang Theory: Still going strong, the series just keeps improving. Seeing as how I adore the Shamy, it should come as no surprise that I follow this series on the foot(is that a Dutchism?). The Shamy are steadily progressing, although there was some stagnation. I'm fairly certain that will  not last, because last week, Amy had an admirer. Surely she will see her own desirability as a girlfriend and in return make Sheldon see it too. Besides, if not her, who the hell is he ever going to find?

-The Walking Dead: Even though this series makes my skin crawl ever now and again, it remains fascinating. How the hell are they ever going to knit an end to it? Is there really going to be a cure at some point or is everyone just going to have to die? I don't really care anymore at this point, but I do want to know.

- Endeavour: Although it finished a while ago, the first series of this show was awesome! Young Endeavour Morse is followed through his trials and tribulations in the life of a upcoming DI talent. Not only is the lead actor pretty damn good to look at he, he's also a good actor and makes for a convincing Morse.

- Doctor Who: Yes. It's still going. And still amazing. And there's a new Doctor! Peter Capaldi will be joining us as the 12th/13th/14th Doctor. Not entirely sure how we're counting anymore. Just know it will be great, as usual.

- Marvel Agents of SHIELD: Not entirely mindblowing, but still fun to watch. We follow the aftermath of the Avengers (2012) in this series. Major plot point: the non-death of Agent Coulson. This is actually quite the mystery and rambunctious speculation has been going on all over the internet and in my head. For the moment, I am going with the 'he's-Vision-in-an-early-stage'-theory. Seems as plausible as any other.

- Dokter Tinus/Doc Martin: Both the English and the Dutch versions of this story turned out to be quite entertaining. Although the Dutch are several series behind, they are quickly catching up by squeezing extra episodes into every series they make. Hope it does end on a happy note, otherwise I will be severely pissed at the writer and see myself forced to reenter the Fanfiction arena on this fandom.

- The IT Crowd: Finally seen it! Very fun comedy series, but please don't watch the American version of it: those comedy vampires sucked the life out of it! This geeky past time has proven both entertaining and illustrating with consideration to the working of the nerd mind. Very helpful.

- How I Met Your Mother: We have finally reached the final series of this show. Even though the entire last series is dedicated to the wedding of Robin and Barney, it still has a rather abrupt feeling to it. Like the show was unexpectedly cancelled because all the actors want to quit. That feeling. Exactly. Let's Google that for a moment. [...] So no, the actual plan was to have series 8 be the end. Eh, why the awkward nine then? Too bad Segel didn't pull the plug. We could have been done already.

- Downton Abbey: Hello upside down world. We have come to the point where I've started to like Mary, kind of hate Edith and apparently Carson and Elsie were not in a secret romantic relationship over the last 30 years. Disappointments all around again. At least no one died (so far).

- Haven: Yep, it's still going. I can barely believe it either. We have now arrived at the point where all the weird stuff happens and you're like: meh. Time to wrap the crazy plot up and start on something fresh?

Well, that's a warp on most of the shows I watch nowadays. It's quite a lot actually, hmm. Should I be spending my time better? Nah, can't.

Vakantie

Mijn ouders zijn op vakantie. Hoewel dit erg genieten is voor mij, brengt het ook wat downsides mee. Bijvoorbeeld een hond die niet langer dan zo'n 6 á 7 uur alleen kan zijn omdat zijn blaas het anders begeeft.

Het is wel een leuke uitdaging. Ik heb vandaag voor het eerst boodschappen gedaan sinds vorige week vrijdag toen mijn ouders weggingen. Alas, het brood was op...

Mijn grootste probleem is eigenlijk de hond. Het uitlaten om precies te zijn. Ik ben deze week drie keer wezen trainen bij mijn sportschool en ben daar gisteren flink op mijn bovenbeen geschopt. Ik hink nu elke 5 uur door het park met een overactieve hond die nooit wil rennen maar nu wel. Bedankt, Tommie en jongen-met-de-scherpe-lowkick.

Gelukkig is er altijd nog mijn kat. Elmo eet, slaapt en kruipt een keer tegen me aan en is algemeen gelukkig. En ik word gelukkig van zijn pluizige koppie, dus onze symbiose is weer evenwichtig.

Eigenlijk heb ik eindelijk een nuttig iets verzonnen voor mijn blog, namelijk om serie/film recensent te worden voor mijzelf en een ieder die mogelijk het ook leest. Dus, wat kijk ik tegenwoordig:

* Sherlock: It is fucking awesome. The BBC outdid itself with this one. Benedict Cumberbatch zet een geweldige Sherlock Holmes neer. Deze moderne versie van Sir Conan Doyle's bekende detective lijkt mij precies wat de auteur voor ogen had. Sherlock is een humeurige, eenzame en manipulative eikel. Hij plakt nicotinepleisters om high te worden en vind het niet belangrijk of de aarde om de zon draait. Ondanks zijn verschrikkelijke gedrag lost hij toch alle zaken op. Baddies include: zijn broer Mycroft en natuurlijk Jim Moriarty. Echt wel een aanrader.

* Dexter: Een vreemde serie over een seriemoordenaar met moraal. Dexter werkt als bloedspettersexpert bij Miami PD, heeft een leuke blonde vriendin met twee snoesjes van kinderen. Ondertussen vermoordt hij criminelen die door de mazen van de wet ontsnappen. Het tempo van de serie ligt niet erg hoog. Elk seizoen bestaat uit 12 afleveringen en er is een hoofplot dat tijdens die afleveringen wordt verteld, met elke aflevering een ander plot. Let op: dit is een serie voor volhouders; je kunt niet stoppen omdat elk plot subtiel overloopt in een volgend seizoen.

* Game of Thrones: Ik had hier niet op gepland, maar ik werd nieuwsgierig naar deze serie toen ik zag dat hij aan het trenden was op Isohunt.com. Mijn eerste indruk was dat het een combinatie was van Beowulf en Predator, maar tijdens de eerste aflevering werd duidelijk dat het meer een middeleeuwse fantasie serie is, met een hintje science fiction. Het is niet voor the faint of heart, gezien het gehalte bloed, naakt en bloed. En naakt. Er zijn nog maar 8 afleveringen op het moment dat ik dit schrijf en pas rond de 6e aflevering werd het naakt interessant; toen kwamen de naakte mannen namelijk pas in beeld.

Tot zover de series die ik actief kijk. Ik weet weer waarom ik soms niet aan mijn schoolwerk toekom.

Geloof het of niet; Hester twittert. Ik vraag me nu al af waarom ik eraan ben begonnen, maar het is wel makkelijker bij te houden dan een blog. Het voelt op het moment nog een beetje als mini-facebooken, maar dan wat vlotter.

Er is in de laatste maanden weer redelijk veel gebeurd:

1. Mijn opa is overleden en het was verschrikkelijk. Ik kan me de laatste keer niet herinneren dat ik zoveel heb gehuild. Het is voor mij, mijn broer en mijn zus de eerste dood in de familie dus hoewel het erg heftig was, zijn we wel wat dichter bij elkaar gekomen. Wat er fijn is aangezien wij niet echt met elkaar overweg kunnen.
   
2. Ik heb weer NaNoWriMo gemist. Elk jaar denk ik er aan om mee te doen, om vervolgens het compleet te vergeten of na 2k woorden weer op te houden. Diepe zucht.
3. Het volgende blok begint alweer bijna en zowaar worden mensen er al zenuwachtig voor. We hebben namelijk Accurate English: het gevreesde vak dat je moet halen anders mag je niet met het tweede jaar beginnen.Wie heeft dat verzonnen? #mustfindpitchfork
4. Ik heb... uh... twee gitaren gekocht. Een elektrische en een western. Het is verschrikkelijk, ik weet het. Die eerste was echt een koopje van een jongen op mijn opleiding die een betere ging kopen, dus 50 eurie well spent. En die tweede... Ok: Ik had een rotdag dus ik opende mijn spaarpot en kocht een gitaar. Letterlijk; ik heb een koeienspaarpot en daar zat dus ondertussen een hele lading geld in.
   

Zo kan ik geloof ik nog wel een poos doorgaan, maar het is wel goed zo. Ik ben vandaag bezig met alle achterstallige klusjes die ik nog moet doen. Dingen als lenzen kopen, oefenen voor pianoles(vanavond een uitvoering...), al mijn mailaccounts weer eens checken en lekker bloggen.

Oh, ik ben het belangrijkste punt vergeten: Ik ga verhuizen naar Nieuwerkerk aan de IJssel. Het is een roteind(net voor Rotterdam, er zo ongeveer tegenaan geplakt), naar vanaf Utrecht is het prima te bereizen en zelfs korter dan naar B'veld. Het enige probleem is dat ik nu drie kamers heb. Het is chaos!! Dat is dus ook de reden dat ik nu aan het oriënteren ben voor kamers in Utrecht. Hopelijk kan ik na de zomer op kamers gaan en zo dus een goede uitvalsbasis hebben voor de weekenden.

Nu is het echt wel even genoeg. Denk ik. #jup
